A growing idea; the Four Seasons resort program!
As the holidays quickly fade into memories and spring edges itself around the corner, we at Luxe Travel Deals are already learning and developing new strategies for the upcoming year. We are working on new ways to help reinforce our commitment to Citizen Diplomat and spreading the word about how luxury travel can and should be used to improve the world one person and one destination at a time.Great ideas develop when people become involved. The Four Seasons, Costa Rica luxury resort at Papgayo Peninsula is a perfect example of Citizen Diplomat and how companies and people can come together to help one another, making great things happen.
50 Four Seasons employees resort guests helped build a fence around a local Costa Rican school to keep the cows out of the classroom. The Principal was grateful to them, but when the volunteers saw that the classrooms had no furniture they created a fund to buy desks and chairs for the children.
This small idea turned into the development of the Growing Together Program. Since 2001, the Four Seasons’ luxury resort owners have been the backbone of this truly great and rewarding program. The program benefits rural communities on the Papagayo Peninsula through customized volunteer experiences. Staff ambassadors match resort guests, groups and families with volunteer opportunities. Opportunities such as; planting a garden at a local school to show children how to eat healthier, cleaning up the environment or adopting a family programs.
The resort has been awarded many titles and accolades including; “The most socially responsible of all hotels and resorts,” on the Virtuoso best of the best list for 2010.
This resort offers all the benefits of luxury that you will find in any other resort; pools, activities, gourmet food and spas. The only real difference is, it offers something that not many other luxury resorts do; time set aside with your family to help those in need. The benefits that your family will receive out of participation in an activity such as this, is immeasurable. Hopefully, this rewarding experience will carry through when you return home and encourage you to get involved and make a difference in your own community.
Spring-break is just around the corner and is a great time to plan a family vacation. None will compare to this one. Your children will have fun while participating in a truly unique experience and perhaps they will have something important to write about when they return back to school.
If your not comfortable with volunteering, there are other ways to help. The resort has a backpack buddy program that is fun and easy to participate in. The object is to simply, purchase a backpack, fill it with school supplies and bring it to the resort with you. The backpack will then be given to a needy child with your name and information so the child will know where the backpack came from. A simple idea, that makes a huge impact in the life of a child.
Travel is not about the how, it is about the why and the Four Seasons resort is a great example of how you can make a simple family vacation turn into a lifelong memorable experience.
